The Summer School addresses itself to academics, who want to commercialize or transfer their high scientific ideas and have experience in the fields of technology, science, advanced engineering, life science, physics, mathematics, IT or AI as well as to early-stage start-ups with science and technology projects.

Personal criteria
Applicants currently in pre-start-up stage/initial stage are in no need of a business plan.
Candidates should possess an ambitious and energetic mind set.
The owner/originator of the idea or key member of the team in the business/ project is preferable.
Fluency in English. Participants need to discuss their businesses with their mentor, other contributors and fellow colleagues during the week and must pitch their idea to the investors in English.
Selection process
Candidates must submit the online application for the I.E.C.T. – Summer School by 15th July 2021.
The number of participants per project or start-up is limited to one person.
Once we receive your application, the I.E.C.T. – Team will contact you for an interview. The project will be assessed in terms of innovation, novelty and sustainability. The project idea descriptions will be also measured with the help of the Technology Readiness Level mTRL (modified TRL) 2-4.
After detailed review applicants will receive an acceptance or rejection by the mid-July 2021 at the latest.
All participants who are accepted to the Summer School will receive pre-course materials, containing background readings on marketing, business models, finance, team, etc. The aim is to encourage comprehensive preparation so that you can make the most of the Summer School.
Costs
Start-Ups 2.300 € netto
Institutional partners 5.400 € netto
Corporate Partners 9.500 € netto
The participation fee for start-ups is € 2,300. There is the possibility to apply for a fellowship. The fellowship fees apply to companies or institutions that send a start-up to the Summer School or provide patronage for a participant.
All fees must be paid in full by August 01, 2021. Once you receive notification from us that you have been accepted as a Summer School participant, the contract comes into effect.
Unfortunately, we have to charge a fee if you cancel a confirmed booking:
- 02.08 . – 08.08.2021 – 50% of the fee is to be paid.
- from 09.08.2021 – 100% of the fee is to be paid.

24 international start-ups and numerous mentors and experts were part of the I.E.C.T. – Summer School on Entrepreneurship 2020, which was offered last year for the first time as a completely digitalised programme.
