I.E.C.T. – Challenge, 11 October 2019

Over 50 invited guests, including investors, entrepreneurs, experts, start-ups from Austria, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and London, gathered for the I.E.C.T Challenge in the Werkstaette Wattens.

During its 5th edition the I.E.C.T – Challenge was presented to the guests in a new format. The I.E.C.T. team had already said goodbye to the classic pitch event in advance. In the future, the new format should present a completely new approach in order to offer the start-ups as well as the guests a sustainable added value. Through interactive exchange between investors, entrepreneurs, experts and start-ups, it is hoped that a sustainable transfer of knowledge will take place in order to continue the successful development of the ecosystem in the long term. And the successful afternoon has proven it: it works! “The Break-Out Sessions in particular brought real added value for the startups. The experience and knowledge of the participants in these sessions was so diverse that a helpful input for many of the challenges of the participating start-ups was almost inevitable,” said Stefan Pletzer, expert and one of the leads, who in duo with the start-ups met the challenges of the break-out sessions. On site, the start-ups from the hardware, renewable energy, biotech and material science industries had the opportunity to intensively discuss their current biggest problem or challenge in their company with the invited guests in break-out sessions. The results of the respective break-out sessions were then presented to the guests and then the winning start-up team was selected via public voting. The start-up PhagoMed with Cornelia Beier’s lead in terms of content was able to assert itself against the competition. The winning team around Alexander Belcredi and Lorenzo Corsini expects a private session with Hermann Hauser as well as a day pass to the I.E.C.T – Summer School 2020.

The I.E.C.T. Challenge was also able to bring added value to the other participants who were present during the afternoon.

„The quality of the pitches – outstanding.“

KURT GASSNER, INVESTOR

„The IECT Challenge was an afternoon very well invested – feedback received and connections made were very valuable and combined with the professional and friendly presence of the organizing team an overall excellent experience.“

MICHAEL LUKESCH, START-UP
