This year the Standortagentur Tirol is again an essential part of the I.E.C.T. – Summer School and partner at the opening event „Tyrol meets Cambridge“. Which (programme) aspects of this event are particularly interesting for the Standortagentur Tirol?
With Tirol Meets Cambridge we are pleased to officially open the annual I.E.C.T. – Summer School. Especially this year, when we welcome the participants digitally in Tyrol, it is even more important that we support future start-ups together with combined forces from Tyrol and Cambridge within the framework of the I.E.C.T. – Summer School and beyond. The opening evening serves primarily as a stage for the prospective start-ups. They present themselves at the opening evening and have the opportunity to get the first contact to mentors and experts from Tyrol and Cambridge.
Due to the current unclear situation, travel restrictions and the current guidelines for events, I.E.C.T. – Hermann Hauser has decided to offer the I.E.C.T. – Summer School as a digital programme for the first time. Have you been able to gain experience with online programmes in the last few weeks and what are the strengths of this digitalization in your opinion?
A lot has changed in the last few weeks and so we too have adapted our programmes accordingly and carried them out digitally. During this time we have been able to recognise the advantages and disadvantages of digital formats. It has become clear that spatial distances have receded into the background due to the implementation of online formats. This brings enormous advantages especially in the transnational access to mentors, experts and investors, as is the case with the I.E.C.T. –Summer School. Especially the individual coachings across national borders play an important role. An advantage that will probably continue to accompany us in the future.
You have been a partner of the programme and part of the opening event several times now. Which aspects do you find particularly exciting and interesting? Is there a particular event from previous years that you would like to highlight here?
We are especially pleased when exciting start-ups emerge from the projects supported by the I.E.C.T. – Summer School. We will get some insights from an alumni team of 2016 Easelink – Matrix Charging during a keynote speech at this year’s opening.
Tyrol as a business location and the Standortagentur Tirol as a partner – What advantages and opportunities does Tyrol offer and how does the Standortagentur Tirol support start-ups?
With five universities and a lively exchange between research and business, the comparatively small Tyrol is a lively location for start-ups. With the clusters, the investor network, special services and formats, funding advice and the close exchange with our partners, we help to ensure that promising ideas don’t disappear in a drawer but conquer the market. As part of Startup.Tirol, the Standortagentur Tirol is active in raising awareness, in building the Tyrolean start-up ecosystem and in supporting start-ups from the idea to growth.
